U.S. Coast Guard commends STAR Center instructors, staff

On April 16, U.S. Coast Guard Course Oversight Auditor Zona Mingo from Regional Examination Center Miami conducted an administrative visit at the AMO Safety & Education Plan's STAR Center in Dania Beach, Fla., which is a U.S. Coast Guard approved training facility.

In her report on the administrative visit, Mingo noted the following:

Excellent facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and model training environment. The training facility, to include the dormitory and other student areas, are top notch in the mariner industry.
Very impressed with the professionalism of the STAR Center staff. They displayed a great deal of knowledge, experience, and expertise in the maritime industry.
It is obvious that STAR Center takes pride in their organization. The records were very orderly and well kept. The instructors were highly experienced. The facility was neat, clean, and technologically advanced.

Two paperwork requirements were addressed on the spot during the administrative visit and Mingo concluded: "There are no corrective actions required."

STAR Center, a division of the AMO Safety & Education Plan, is the primary training provider for members of American Maritime Officers.
