Substantial increases across the board in new contract for M/V Jean Anne

American Maritime Officers has secured a new five-year agreement covering the car carrier M/V Jean Anne, featuring substantial wage increases and other gains for AMO members sailing in all licensed ratings aboard the vessel.

Serving on the rank-and-file negotiating committee with AMO National Executive Vice President Robert Kiefer was Capt. Greg Johnson, master of the Jean Anne. The AMO negotiating committee met with executives of Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines and Interocean American Shipping Corp. Jan. 20 to 22 at the AMO office in Philadelphia. Interocean American Shipping operates the Jean Anne for Pasha.

“Captain Johnson’s input was instrumental to our success at the bargaining table, as was the consistently excellent performance of the officers onboard the Jean Anne,” Kiefer said. “We achieved significant across-the-board wage increases for all licensed ratings and parity with other AMO-contracted car carriers. The officers will also receive holiday pay for work performed during 10 recognized holidays under this contract.

“This agreement reflects the value placed by the company in the professionalism of the AMO officers manning the Jean Anne and the continuously smooth and timely operations of the ship,” Kiefer said.

The five-year agreement secured in January is retroactive to the expiration of the previous contract and includes all actuarially required increases in contributions to the AMO Plans, as well as the required language for the AMO Pension Plan rehabilitation plan.
