Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) on May 20 presented the Congressional Gold Medal to U.S. Merchant Marine Veteran of World War II Gus Guzelian - a retired member of American Maritime Officers, former AMO National Executive Board Member and a founding member of the Brotherhood of Marine Engineers, the union that became AMO - during a conference hosted by the Nautical Institute in San Francisco, Calif. Joining them at the ceremony was AMO National Executive Vice President Willie Barrere.
