Photos: C.S. Decisive reflagged for U.S. Cable Security Fleet

The SubCom cable ship Decisive was reflagged into U.S. registry in January for service in the two-ship U.S. Cable Security Fleet, joining SubCom's C.S. Dependable. Working onboard the ship during the reflagging were (left to right) OMU Kasim Ahmed, OMU Joshua Glancy, Third Assistant Engineer Sean Kirby, Chief Electrician Igor Yakunkov, OMU Xyla Jimenez, ET Tony Monica, Second A.E. Pete Barrow, OMU Gregory Attawora, Second A.E. Joe Osiak, First A.E. Greg Thomas, Third A.E. Jewel McLain and Chief Engineer Jeff McCarthy. American Maritime Officers represents the licensed officers aboard the Decisive and Dependable, and the Seafarers International Union represents the unlicensed crew.

Working onboard the C.S. The two-ship Cable Security Fleet is modeled after the Maritime Security Program, and like the MSP, each ship serving in the U.S. Cable Security Fleet will receive an annual stipend. Full funding for the first year of the Cable Security Fleet was signed into law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021.
