Deck, engine, radio officer requirements for work aboard T-AGS ships

Supplemental information is now available outlining training and other requirements for work in engine, deck or radio officer positions aboard the T-AGS ships, the operating charter for which was recently awarded to 3PSC LLC by Military Sealift Command. The ships will be manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers.

AMO members interested in working as deck, engine or radio officers aboard the T-AGS ships must hold the following valid documents: MMD, unlimited license, STCW, passport, TWIC, CAC and MSC physical. Additional requirements include: EPIC check (annual), SECRET clearance, immunizations per BUMED 6230.15 and updated SF 98 each tour.

Requirements for masters and chief mates include: MSC damage control (five years), advanced firefighting (five years), MSC small arms (annual), SST (three years), MSC anti-terrorism officer (five years), MSC CBR-D officer (five years), MSC CBR-D orientation (five years), U.S. Coast Guard drug and alcohol testing (five years), U.S. Coast Guard breath alcohol testing (five years) and MSC SAMM. Preferred qualifications include: MSC LAN administrator, MSC message traffic transfer (PPTS) and MSC electronic key management system.

Requirements for second and third mates include: MSC damage control (five years), advanced firefighting (five years), MSC small arms (annual), SST (three years) and MSC CBR-D orientation (five years). Preferred training includes: MSC anti-terrorism officer (five years) and MSC CBR-D officer (five years).

Requirements for radio officers include: MSC damage control (five years), advanced firefighting (five years), MSC CBR-D orientation (five years), MSC LAN administrator, MSC message traffic transfer (PPTS), MSC electronic key management system and GMDSS operator. Preferred training includes: MSC small arms (annual) and SST (three years).

Requirements for chief and first assistant engineers include: MSC damage control (five years), advanced firefighting (five years), MSC CBR-D orientation (five years), MSC SAMM, MSC shipboard engineering chemical, MSC shipboard lube oil testing and MSC supply and configuration management. Preferred training includes: MSC small arms (annual), SST (three years), MSC shipboard vibration analysis and EPA refrigerant recovery.

Requirements for second and third assistant engineers include: MSC damage control (five years), advanced firefighting (five years), MSC CBR-D orientation (five years), MSC SAMM and MSC shipboard vibration analysis. Preferred training includes: MSC small arms (annual), SST (three years), MSC shipboard engineering chemical, MSC shipboard lube oil testing and EPA refrigerant recovery.
