Enhanced online features will soon be available for AMO members and applicants utilizing union's new data management system

AMO Union and Dispatching websites will be temporarily offline beginning October 22 at noon EDT as online services are added

American Maritime Officers at the end of 2020 completed the transition to a new internal data management system developed by JayStar Group for AMO members and applicants. Working with JayStar, the union has completed the first phase of integrating the new system into the online portal available to active AMO members and applicants via the AMO website.

Portions of the AMO website, as well as the AMO Dispatching website, will be taken offline on Friday, October 22 at noon eastern time while the new features are posted. Full online access to both websites is expected to be restored no later than Monday, October 25 and will be announced via email bulletin when the site changes are complete.

When the new site features have been implemented, active AMO members and applicants will log into the "Member Area" of the AMO website using their existing online credentials for the AMO Dispatching website.

Additionally, each member and applicant will be required to enter his or her Mariner Reference Number. The entirely numerical Mariner Reference Number can be found in the Merchant Mariner Credential on the photo page under the 'reference number' heading in the upper right corner.

Once logged into the "Member Area" of the AMO website, members and applicants will see two links at the top of the landing page. The first link, "Member Profile," will provide the following information:

  • Member/applicant status and contact information
  • Expiration dates of key documents and credentials that you have filed with the union (these records reflect the information the union has on file for you and may not be current if you have not provided your most recent documents and credentials to the union)
  • For AMO members, the amount of dues paid and owed at the present time
  • For AMO applicants, the amount of initiation paid and owed, as well as the amount of dues paid and owed, at the present time
  • Shipping and registration status
  • Training certifications on file with the union (these records reflect the information the union has on file for you and may not be current if you have not provided all training certificates to the union)
  • Open jobs for which you are qualified (based on the documents, training records and certifications you have provided to the union)
  • Work history
  • Merchant Mariner Credential endorsements

The second link, "Member Statement," will provide the total amount of dues owed at the present time. For applicants, the statement will also include the amount of initiation owed at the present time.

Both links require a short amount of time to load updated information from the AMO data management system, so members and applicants are asked to be patient after clicking the links as the information to be displayed is updated.

Separately, for the time being, the complete online deep-sea job board for open jobs will remain available for AMO member and applicant review on the AMO Dispatching website.

As noted above, the AMO Dispatching website will also be taken offline at noon eastern time on October 22 and will return to service at the same time as the AMO website. Once the new features are implemented, AMO members and applicants will need to enter their Mariner Reference Number, in addition to username and password, to access the AMO Dispatching website.

Once the updates are complete for this phase, the Member Log In page on the AMO website will feature links for active AMO members and applicants to register for an online user account and for resetting a lost or forgotten password.

Bulletins will be released in the future as additional services with the new AMO data management system are made available online for AMO members and applicants.
