American Maritime Officers members Captain Alexandra Hagerty, master on the USNS Shughart, and Captain Kristi Westphal, master on the USNS Yano, in April retracted the stern ramps of each of the large medium-speed roll-on/roll-off ships for Military Sealift Command Lead Naval Architect William Robblee to determine the stability and towing diagram for the vessels.

AMO members Third Assistant Engineer Keith Neathery, First A.E. Mo Duggins, Chief Engineer Thaddeus Hyatt, Second A.E. Jorge Turcios and Chief Mate Edmund O'Shea worked on the offload of heavy fuel oil from the USNS Yano and USNS Shughart for future decommissioning of the converted LMSRs, after which they will be turned over to the Maritime Administration.
