Bartlett resigns as AMO national executive vice president

Christopher Bartlett resigned his position as American Maritime Officers national executive vice president July 3 and will return to the AMO deep-sea fleet as master with APL Maritime.

“As a union official, I haven’t been able to spend much time with my family and a good job opportunity at sea presented itself,” Bartlett said. “With the new tonnage entering the APL Maritime fleet, there is an opportunity for me to return to sea directly as a captain, and those are rare. As a mariner, you are gone from home for long periods, but you also get to spend a lot of time at home with your family during vacation.”

Bartlett was elected AMO national executive vice president in June 2008. AMO National Assistant Vice President at Large Robert Kiefer will be appointed to the position to complete his term.
