New jobs for AMO as APL Pearl begins U.S.-flag service

On Monday, June 1 the containership M/V APL Pearl was re-flagged into U.S. registry in Charleston, S.C. The ceremony followed last month's re-flagging of the M/V APL Cyprine. Both ships are operated by APL Maritime Limited and manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers.

The Pearl will carry a variety of cargoes on a route called the "Suez Express." The vessel will travel from New York down the Eastern seaboard to Charleston, Savannah and Norfolk and though the Suez Canal to Dubai, Port Kelang, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Oman before returning back through the canal to New York.

The APL Pearl will soon leave for Savannah on its first voyage under U.S. registry.
