AMO to resume issuing membership books April 1; book members maintain priority over applicants for open jobs
The following resolution was approved unanimously by the American Maritime Officers National Executive Board.

2009 RESOLUTION (1) OF THE AMO NATIONAL EXECUTIVE BOARD: ISSUANCE OF NEW BOOKS

WHEREAS, on January 29, 2008, the AMO National Executive Board adopted Resolution (3), which provided that, effective March 1, 2008, there shall be no issuance of new membership books in AMO, and

WHEREAS, the AMO National Executive Board determined that this policy would be reviewed at its first meeting of 2009.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
  1. The AMO National Executive Board has agreed to issue new books for membership in AMO upon completion of the required initiation fee, and other requirements, effective April 1, 2009.
  2. The AMO National Executive Board has also determined that, pursuant to the AMO Offshore Shipping Rules, registered book members shall be shipped before applicants and permits.
