National Maritime Day observances

American Maritime Officers will be participating in the following observances of National Maritime Day.

Thursday, May 21 - Washington, D.C.
National Maritime Day observance and wreath laying ceremony
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
U.S. Department of Transportation
1200 New Jersey Ave. SE

Friday, May 22 - Dania Beach, Fla.
National Maritime Day observance
11:30 a.m.
STAR Center in the central courtyard
2 West Dixie Highway

Friday, May 22 - San Pedro, Calif.
National Maritime Day observance and memorial ceremony
11 a.m.
American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial
550 S Harbor Blvd. at the foot of W 6th St.
Additional off-site parking will be available at the Ports O'Call restaurant, Berth 76, 1200 Nagoya Way. Transportation will be provided from the parking area to the American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial. Members of American Maritime Officers interested in attending the ceremony at 11 a.m. and luncheon at noon at the Ports O'Call should contact AMO National Assistant Vice President Daniel Shea via or (800) 362-0513 ext. 5001.

Separately, a Maritime Day mass and national day of prayer for mariners will be held Sunday, May 24 beginning at noon in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Upper Church) at 400 Michigan Ave. NE, Washington, D.C. 20017.
