M/V McCarthy resumes service
The M/V Walter J. McCarthy left the dock May 6 for sea trials after repairs on the ship were completed.In January, a submerged object punctured the hull of the thousand-footer as it backed into its winter berth in Superior, Wis. Although the breach caused the McCarthy to take on water, no one was injured and there was no discharge of oil from the ship.
After completing sea trials, the McCarthy loaded coal at Midwest Energy Resources bound for a power plant on Lake Erie.
