A reminder from STAR Center: confirm course attendance

All members of American Maritime Officers registered for courses in Dania Beach, Fla., or Toledo, Ohio, are reminded to contact STAR Center two-to-four weeks in advance of a course's starting date to confirm their attendance.

AMO members can do so by phone at (800) 445-4522, ext. 7109 or ext. 7112, or by e-mail at register@star-center.com.

Confirmation of attendance is necessary because STAR Center must assign instructors for each course and may schedule additional classes and assign additional instructors as demand warrants. STAR Center must also schedule accommodations for union members and their families.

Unannounced absences from one or more courses by registered AMO members can result in unnecessary expense for the AMO Safety and Education Plan and deny other AMO members the opportunity to obtain required or desired training.

If there is a waiting list for a particular course and an individual's attendance is not confirmed two-to-four weeks in advance, the registered slot will be released two weeks prior to the course's starting date to create an opening for AMO members on the waiting list.
